Mental Ray®
·        To use Autodesk VIZ 4 and Mental Ray, you need to use the Mental Ray connection 1.2, which is the same one available for 3dsmax 4. The Mental Ray connection installer looks for a 3dsmax.exe file so it can be installed. To install it, copy 3dsviz.exe to 3dsmax.exe and the Mental Ray connection will install properly. For the Mental Ray connection to work, it requires Mental Ray 2.1.45.1. You can download both at:

If you have 3dsmax 4 and Autodesk VIZ 4 on the same computer and want to install the Mental Ray Connection to 3ds max 1.2 in both of them, the installer will not allow you to do so. You will need to manually copy the files from one system to the other. The files are:
