Due to the constant technical improvements and updates being made to ArchiCAD, the compatibility of add-ons will be broken with the next major version release. This means that add-ons written for ArchiCAD 8 will not work with the forthcoming ArchiCAD 8.1 release. For developers, the implications are a recompilation and possibly minor update work to make current add-ons compatible with version 8.1. To ensure that developers are given the maximum possible time to carry out the necessary work, Graphisoft will regularly supply beta versions of ArchiCAD 8.1 and the API to Graphisoft Registered/Certified API Developer Partners. A fortunate benefit of this is that developers are invited to take part in beta testing, thus giving them the opportunity to make 8.1 even more stable and provide their own feedback on the beta versions.
