Bentley 3D新闻组中的发言
Open topic this one...
I am a student looking into the use of 3D CAD (MicroStation v8) within the
interior architecture industry - and I was just wondering if anyone has
any thoughts on how MicroStation performs with this sort of work? Does
anyone use it for this purpose? Do they find the software provides the
necessary tools required for the job?
Thanks for any feedback!
一个学生问MS是否适合室内建筑行业。
It is not the best modeller
It is not the best at rendering
but it's getting better all the time and it will do everything in the one
package.
All depends on what you want to do what your budget is what experience you
have had so far etc etc
有人这么答:它不是最好的建模工具,也不是最好的渲染器。但是它可以在一个软件包里完成所有的工作。
Wat is the best modeler & best renderer? I have my own ideas on this,
but am interested to know which programs you are thinking of.
Furthermore, being best at one function individually doesn't necessarily
make the best overall option - often a program that combines the
functions well, although not being the best at any of the functions will
be the most suitable option, as it means only having to use one program,
& no exporting of files etc.
I use Microstation a lot for modelling & rendering (although I tend to
do all 2D in AutoCAD (office requirements as much as anything else) I
use a number of other programs as well, both for modeling & rendering,
but fell that for a lot of stuff it is easier for me to do it in
Microstation, not necessarily because the program is better, but because
I have a greater knowledge of it & where time is critical (as it tends
to be in most projects) I can guarrantee I will get the result I want,
whereas in other programs that I don't know so well, I can probably
achieve the result but it may take longer.

OK, so there might be better modellers, but many of those can't produce
working drawings. And there might be better renderers, but unless you are
trying to win rendering competitions or have your image on the front of a
glossy magazine, then is that level of rendering really that critical in
many cases? I find most people are pretty impressed just to get some kind of
3D visual feedback on your design without worrying about whether the scene
looks like a photo. But if you want to get to that, then Microstation's
rendering is certainly getting close as proven by some of renders done by
folks on the Viz newsgroup.
