    Because they sing their own songs  play their own instruments and are almost preternaturally perky  Oslo-based Marit E. Larsen and Marion E. Raven have already been dubbed the ＂Norwegian Hanson.＂

Like Hanson  M2M are teenage singers-turned-international sensations who make comparatively organic records  at least in comparison to their BritneyMandyChristina counterparts. Rarer still is the fact that Shades of Purple  the duo＇s American debut  is actually quite good. Agile harmonies  authentically girl-powered lyrics (as opposed to the less convincing trollop feminism of  say  The Spice Girls)  and familiar-but-not-overly-so melodies make Shades Of Purple an utterly charming debut.

Songs like the already ubiquitous ＂Don＇t Say You Love Me＂ and the equally diverting ＂Mirror Mirror＂ are  like the rest of the record  inoffensively chirpy and absolutely irresistible. The glossily talented Raven and Larsen seem assured of a future full of Dawson＇s Creek product placements  and as the alternate divas of choice for those for whom Britney Spears is too edgy。
