Architectural Desktop 2007
Designed specifically for architects and engineers involved in building design and construction, Architectural Desktop 2007 (ADT) is built on AutoCAD software and its intelligent objects mean that you can get productive right away.

Documentation and Reporting Enhancements
In this release of Architectural Desktop, major focus has been placed on addressing the problems and challenges of space layout and reporting.
Additional improvements have been made to other aspects of the documentation process, including Dimensions, Scheduling, and 2D Sections/Elevations.
Space / Area / eSpace Unification
Until Architectural Desktop 2007, there existed several overlapping solutions for representing spatial arrangements in Architectural Desktop. Confusion existed as to when to use the Space object vs. the Area/Area Group objects. In an Autodesk Building Systems environment, the Engineering Space (eSpace) and Zone (eZone) objects added a third challenge; this also did not offer the most optimal workflow between Architectural Desktop and Building Systems users.
In ADT 2007, these objects have been unified into one comprehensive solution. Previous version objects (Areas, Area Groups, eSpaces, eZones) are automatically upgraded into the new Space and Zone
objects.
Name Definitions used by Areas & Area Groups are now provided through the new List Definition property set type.
Spaces may also be grouped into Zones across x-refs.
Space Auto-creation Enhancements
The Space Auto-Generate command will allow creation of spaces in a single click from an entire drawing or xref.
Space Bounding Object Interaction
Spaces in Architectural Desktop are now capable of being associative to the objects (walls, slabs, curtain walls, etc) which surround them. In previous releases you would need to reselect the bounded objects to update the space.
In Architectural Desktop 2007 this is streamlined by a simple right-click Update command.
Freeform Volumetric Spaces
Spaces now have three shape types: 2D (Area), Extrusion, and Freeform allowing you to accurately report the volume, in addition to providing the required information used by the Standards-based Calculations. Mass element editing and Boolean operations provide flexibible modelling capabilities for non-associative spaces.
Automated Wall Component Dimensioning
AEC Dimensions now provide the ability to automatically dimension to wall components, as defined by the wall style, based on:
Structural vs. Non-Structural
Center of wall or center of any component
Left/right of wall or any component
Associative Manual Dimensions
In past releases, manual dimension points for AEC Dimensions left AutoCAD point objects which caused confusion when deleting the dimension string but points remained. Now manual AEC Dimensions behave consistently with AutoCAD dimensions and are associative to objects, such as Multi-view blocks. A + grip on the dimension chain allows you to quickly dimension to additional objects or points.
Schedule Table Title Override
Schedule tables in ADT 2007 now provide the ability to override the title specified on the style for each instance that uses that style. In past releases separate schedule table styles would need to be created to address situations such as door schedules per floor (eg. First Floor Door Schedule; Second Floor Door Schedule).
Header Overrides
ADT 2007 also now provides the ability for individual column headers to have overridden formatting.
Schedule Table Formulae
Provide more powerful schedule tables by performing calculations directly in the schedule table column and include access to a quantity column in a formula column.
List Definition
Manual property definitions in Architectural Desktop provide ultimate flexibility in the non-graphical data that can be attached to objects and styles. One tedious and error-prone aspect of manual properties is repeated data entry.
ADT 2007 now provides a List Definition that allows you to pre-specify a list of properties that can be re-used in any manual property.
Property Visibility
In ADT 2007 you can control which properties appear in the Extended Data tab of the Properties Palette, including the ability to hide individual properties.
Anchor Property
ADT 2007 adds a new ‘Anchor Property Definition’ type to allow an object to retrieve data from the object it is anchored to. For example, a door can retrieve the fire rating from the wall in which it is inserted (anchored) into.
Classification Enhancements
In previous releases, classifications could be applied to object styles. In ADT 2007 this functionality is extended to support classifications per object. On the Extended Data tab of the Properties Palette any classification definitions that apply to the selected object will appear in the new “Classification” group.
Additionally, classification definitions now support a hierarchical organisation structure to allow industry standard classifications to be implemented.
2D Section/Elevation Linework from Model Display
Architectural Desktop’s 2D Section/Elevation object provides flexible functionality from which to create a section or elevation from the model. This system, however, is optimised for objects that have Materials applied to them. A common request from customers is to simply maintain the layer/color/linetype of the display properties assigned to the objects in lieu of using the Design Rule functionality.
ADT 2007 provides the ability to “Maintain layer, color, linetype properties from the Display Set used during generation.”
Object Enhancements
Multi-component Slabs
Consistent with walls, you can now define slabs and roof slabs with multiple components for more usable 2D sections.
Modifiers and Interferences
The slab/roof slab objects now support body modifiers and interference conditions consistent with walls. Interference conditions can also interact with objects across x-refs.
True Arc Edges
In past releases, slabs created from curved geometry resulted in dozens of faceted segments which could not be later edited as an arc. In ADT 2007 true arc edges are now available on slabs and roof slabs for easier editing and more accurate coordination.
Custom Stair from Linework
Stairs in ADT 2007 now offer an intuitive workflow when the full parametric capabilities of the stair object are not required. Simply sketch a stair in plan using lines, polylines, and arcs and then convert to a stair by right-clicking any Stair Tool and applying it to the linework.

Convert any stair object into a custom stair and then you can then edit treads and risers in place using familiar grip editing functionality.
Body Modifiers on Stairs
Stairs in ADT 2007 now provide the ability to add Body Modifiers similar to walls, slabs, and structural members. Add, subtract, or replace a stringer, tread, landing, or riser with any 3D body.
Interference Conditions on Stairs
Similar to walls, slabs, roof slabs, and structural members, you can now also add interference conditions to stairs, including objects across x-refs.
Up/Down Display
ADT 2007 will now allow the independent representation of “down” and “above” cut plane display components.
Railing Customisation
Railing styles now provide the ability to assign unique profiles for first, last, and other fixed posts. Railings now also allow you to have posts to be oriented perpendicular to the stair slope, with a trigger grip for first and last posts to allow these to vary from the interior posts.
Structural Member Body Modifiers
You can now add body modifiers, similar to walls, slabs, and roof slabs, to Architectural Desktop structural members to more accurately reflect your design conditions.
Use Custom Block Boolean operations on structural members styles (or object instances), to create single or repeating holes for castellated beams, etc.
Structural Member Interference Conditions
Similar to walls, slabs, roof slabs, and stairs, you can now also add Interference Conditions to structural members, including objects across x-refs. This functionality allows you to more accurately depict interacting conditions between, for example, the architectural objects and Autodesk Building Systems objects, such as duct work and piping.
Wall Interferences
In previous releases of Architectural Desktop, wall objects had the ability to depict interference conditions with objects, such as columns. In ADT 2007, along with slabs, roof slabs, stairs, and structural members, you can now create these relationships across x-refs.
Project Navigator Enhancements - Folder Customisation
A long-standing request is to allow the hard-coded folders used by Constructs, Elements, Views and Sheets to be customisable to user’s pre-existing folder structures. ADT 2007 now provides the ability to configure custom folder paths for these items.
Project Navigator Enhancements - Mapped Drives
ADT 2007 provides additional support for mapped drives. In previous releases you could navigate to a mapped drive, but the Project Navigator would store a UNC path (\\computer\folder\...) to safeguard against server changes. In ADT 2007, this check is no longer performed, and however a drive is navigated to in the Project setup dialog (mapped or UNC), this pathing option is honoured.
